This was our Easter morning adventure (= I've tried to upload the slideshow, but I'm having problems, so you'll have to sit tight.
Last night was the first night Lj has slept through the night and I'm SO relieved. However, I still woke up at 430am. It's a great time to think about unpacking and arranging things. Tom has been unpacking and moving back in with a vengeance and I've been much slower - both physically and mentally. I realized this morning that it is because he his moving back into the same space and I'm trying to sort out how to fit baby #2 into everything, including basic furniture purchases etc. Plus, I feel like I need to clean everything before I put things back and the combination of that, plus being pregnant means I'm not really doing much.
I'm actually reading Tea with Hezbollah. I HIGHLY recommend it. I wish I could give free copies to everyone! Very cool project they conceived for the book.
We've put Lj in her own room - the crib mattress just sits on the floor with a little pile of blankets and the few stuffed animals we brought with us. I'm convinced she'll roll off. Anyway, I put the bed "together" yesterday so she could get used to it and because we were losing our cool with having her in our room. She seemed to enjoy playing on it yesterday, but I wasn't sure when she'd be ready to leave our room to actually sleep.
In the evening yesterday (between prayers 4 and 5) we had a friend stop by with the rest of our luggage from up in Dubai. As we were all sitting there getting acquainted (they'd lived in our home but we've never met them) Lj kept saying to me "No, talk to me!" It was so cute. She has been doing that when she wants attention or when she wants you to make up a story or some sort of narrative for her to act out (= Needless to say, I didn't talk to her and after awhile I realized it was pretty quiet. this is freaking me out more than normal these days because the house is the opposite of an "open floor plan" and I really don't know what she is up to in the other rooms. So I finally went looking for her and wouldn't you know it, she was completely crashed out on her little bed! Poor think looked so forlorn (= I'm just glad she has the instincts to do that.
Anyway. today we are going to attempt crossing the border. We need to buy a bed, try and see the doctor and do some house shopping - boring yet thrilling solutions to our plumbing problems in the guest bathroom. Mom, you'll be glad to know we'll have water pressure for you when you come!!!
The plan for seeing the doctor is this: After multiple phone calls to try and make an appointment, being told we'll be called back and receiving no such call, we're going local and just showing up and waiting until he'll see me (= They have separate waiting rooms there so the moms and kids can either sit in the western waiting room with chairs or in the arab-style waiting room with cushions on the floor. You just hang out, keep the kids from running around too much, drink tea and wait for the doctor (= I've been told to plan at least two hours. Tom will probably not wait - he'll just take Lj somewhere more fun to pass the time.
